A Hungry Horse man is facing charges of felony assault with a weapon after allegedly firing two shots and injuring a man Saturday.
Malachi David Apsey, 39, remained in Flathead County Detention Center Tuesday afternoon with bail set at $20,000 by Flathead District Judge Heidi Ulbricht.
According to court documents, Flathead County sheriff’s deputies responded to an altercation on Larch Lane in the Echo Lake area.
The alleged victim told a deputy that Friday night he had ridden his motorcycle down the road and Apsey yelled at him. The victim told a deputy that on Saturday he had been riding with a group down the road and Apsey had exited a residence and yelled at him.
Apsey allegedly yelled, “You gonna come talk to me now, tough guy?” and the victim turned around, stopped and dismounted his motorcycle in the roadway.
Apsey allegedly approached rapidly with a gun in one hand and punched the alleged victim in the face with his empty hand. The man allegedly struck back and Apsey responded by firing two shots at the victim’s feet. One of the shots fragmented and struck the man’s leg. The victim retreated to his residence, where medical personnel treated him.
Apsey is set to be arraigned on June 6.
