On May 18, residents in St. Regis voted down the request for a $49,000 dollar per year Technology Levy for the school. The levy was defeated 98 to 129 votes. The levy would have been used to purchase, rent, repair, and maintain technology equipment. Including computers, computer network access, cloud computing services, platform, software, network, storage, security, data, database, curriculum, and more.
“We’re disappointed,” said St. Regis principal, Joe Steele, “we’ll have to use general funds and it will make our budget tight next year.”
Steele said that the school board will review the levy at their next meeting and decide what they will do next. Steele said they may survey residents to get feedback on the proposed levy.
