Whitefish reopens East First Street
Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 9 years, 7 months AGO
To alleviate summer traffic congestion in downtown Whitefish, the city will reopen East First Street between Central and Baker avenues to one-way traffic today.
To accommodate the need for space at the construction site of the new City Hall and parking structure, the south half of the parking lot at the northwest corner of East First Street and Central Avenue (south of the Craggy Range Bar and Grill) will be closed and used for storage of construction materials and the construction trailer. The contractor will occupy this portion of the parking lot until the crew can move onto the construction site, according to a city press release.
The north half of the parking lot south of Craggy Range Bar and Grill will be striped to accommodate better parking.
The city also will add temporary diagonal parking on the south side of East First Street between Central Avenue and the construction site.
