SANDPOINT — What’s your fancy? We’ve got something to suit it this week, as the ever-diverse calendar is brimming with dinner theatre tonight, a community dance on Saturday and live music seemingly everywhere through the weekend. Be sure to check out the outdoor venues, as well, with music at Park Place on Saturday and both music and artists at Farmin Park Sunday afternoon.

Dinner Theatre

The Panida Playhouse premiers the first in what will be an ongoing series of dinner theater events with two, one-act plays by noted local playwright Teresa Pesce.

Spokane Symphony + Terrain: ‘Uncharted’

A unique take on Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. Eckart Preu and the orchestra will collaborate with an eclectic mix of artists and musicians including: artist/poet Ellen Welcker (as Peter), rock n’ roll band Von the Baptist (The Wolf), band Mama Doll (The Duck), punk rock burlesque artist The Divine Jewels (The Cat), Indie-folk-jazz singer/songwriter Liz Rognes (The Bird), dance artist Vincas Greene (The Hunters) graphic novelist Simeon Mills (Grandpa) and radio personality Verne Windham as The Narrator.

Park Place Summer Sounds with Monarch Mountain Band

Good music is welcome any time, but when it makes the streets of downtown Sandpoint ring, it’s just plain awesome! This outdoor venue is one of our local gems, like the artists who appear there. This weekend, it’s the amazing Monarch Mountain Band.

‘Swing Into Summer’

Venue: Sandpoint Community Hall, 204 S. First Ave., in Sandpoint.

Time: 7-10 p.m., Saturday, May 28

Come enjoy the fun of social dancing in Sandpoint, with a special flair for Lost in the ‘5os weekend. A swing dance lesson will be taught by a local professional instructor from 7- 8 pm, followed by general dancing, refreshments, door prizes, mixers, and a drawing for a month of free dance classes. Singles and couples are welcome. Wear sock hop attire if you desire!

This Sunday’s event will showcase live music by the bluegrass band Flatpick Earl, as well as Brother Music and Chris Bassett. Join us in the park and help create bridges between artistic genres, forge new friendships and promote a ‘oneness of heart’ in community. Event also showcases live art and original poetry.
