Tickets on sale now for show at Northwest Montana Fair

Country music star Trace Adkins will make a tour stop in Kalispell on Wednesday, Aug. 17, during the Northwest Montana Fair.

Tickets are on sale now at the Fair Office and at www.nwmtfair.com, with prices ranging from $20 to $45.

The concert will feature Red Head Express as the opening act. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Flathead Country Fairgrounds Grandstand.

Adkins’ trademark baritone has powered countless hits to the top of the charts and sold more than 10 million albums.

His hits includes “You’re Gonna Miss This,” “Ladies Love Country Boys,” “Songs About Me,” “Every Light In The House,” “Hillbilly Bone” (with Blake Shelton) and “Just Fishin’.” The Grammy-nominated member of the Grand Ole Opry is a TV personality, actor, author, and spokesman for the Wounded Warrior Program and the American Red Cross, for whom he raised more than $1.5 million as winner of NBC’s All-Star Celebrity Apprentice.

In recent years, Adkins has performed at 10 USO Tours.

In his 2007 autobiography, “A Personal Stand: Observations and Opinions from a Freethinking Roughneck,” the former oil rigger recounted his rise to fame, brushes with death and battles with personal demons. He played a biker in “The Lincoln Lawyer” and an oracle of a tattoo artist in “Moms’ Night Out.” He also developed and hosted “Great American Heroes.”

The Northwest Montana Fair is scheduled to run from Aug. 17-21 this year, featuring food, a carnival, kids activities, pig wrestling, livestock auctions and more than 8,000 exhibits on display.

“We chose ‘Montana’s Best!’ as this year’s theme, because it really embodies the pride exhibited at the fair,” said Fairgrounds Manager Mark Campbell. “Young and old put their very best efforts on display, from the quilts on exhibit to the athletes competing in the rodeo.”

The Ram PRCA Rodeo runs Aug. 18-20 and will feature world-class male and female competitors from Canada and throughout the United States aiming for the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December. Events include bareback, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, team roping, barrel racing and bull riding. Adult tickets range from $20 to $24, with seniors admitted for $10 on Aug. 18.  General admission tickets for children ages six to 12 are $8, and children ages five and are admitted for free.

The fair culminates in a demolition derby on Aug. 21, with drivers competing for cash prizes. Adult tickets are $20, children ages six to 12 are admitted for $8, and children ages five and under are admitted for free.

The fair’s annual premium book is now available at the fairgrounds office, all county library branches, local Chambers of Commerce and on the fair’s web site. The premium book is a comprehensive guide to fair events, including all 4-H, FFA and Open Class competitions.

Those wishing to enter 4-H, FFA or Open Class competitions are encouraged to register online at www.nwmtfair.com. Competitors may also mail, fax or deliver registrations to the fairgrounds office. All registrations must be received by Aug. 1 or as indicated by the department they are entering. No late entries will be accepted.
