A San Diego California man was injured Friday afternoon after his motorcycle went into Deer Lick Creek on U.S. Highway 2 at Nyack.
The man was westbound about 3:30 p.m. with several other motorcyclists when his bike clipped an eastbound camper at highway speeds. The man lost control, crossed the highway and went into the stream, narrowly missing a culvert that went over the creek. The road was dry at the time of the accident.
Several people, including friends from his party, helped get the man, who was conscious, out of the creek. The man was being treated initially by Three Rivers Ambulance personnel at the scene.
It wasn’t initially clear what vehicle crossed the centerline. Montana Highway Patrol was investigating the accident. The Coram-West Glacier Fire Department, Glacier National Park and the Montana Department of Transportation all assisted at the scene.
Law enforcement is beefing up patrols for the Memorial Day weekend and is reminding folks to watch their speeds, wear their seatbelts and don’t drink and drive.
