A Kalispell man awaiting trial on two felony charges was jailed Saturday for allegedly assaulting a woman with pepper spray.
Nathan Mark Culver, 39, was in Flathead District Court charged with felony assault with a weapon.
According to court documents, Flathead County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the parking lot of Pacific Steel and Recycling at 12:36 a.m. Saturday for a disturbance complaint.
A woman told a deputy that Culver had pepper-sprayed her and caused her pain. She exhibited signs of encountering pepper spray and a witness backed up her claim that Culver had deployed the spray on her.
A can of pepper spray allegedly was found in Culver’s pocket.
At the time of his arrest, Culver was out on $3,000 bond for felony possession of dangerous drugs and bail jumping. He is set for trial in July.
Prosecutors say he was stopped on Dec. 14, 2015, in Flathead County driving a truck that had been reported stolen. A stolen gun and suspected crystal methamphetamine also allegedly were found in the vehicle.
Culver missed a court date and then was charged with felony bail jumping.
Culver is on felony probation for issuing a bad check. He also has been charged with felony theft in Lake County for allegedly stealing a vehicle.
Culver is set to be arraigned June 9.
