SANDPOINT — Life in the backwoods demands persistence, resourcefulness and grit. A cup of robust java never hurts, either. That is a need that Kimberly Osborne and Morgan Noel fill on a daily basis at their espresso drive-through, Backwoods Brew.
Situated halfway between Sandpoint and the Selle Valley, the trim red building housing Backwoods Brew stands like a beacon at the corner of Highway 200 and Colburn-Culver Road, welcoming commuters and vacationers alike with Evans Brothers Coffee blends, teas, and Italian sodas. Osborne and Noel bake muffins on-site as well as building breakfast and lunch sandwiches to order.
Osborne and her family moved to the area from Denver, Colo., last November. She said she welcomed the opportunity to switch from working in sales to operating a family business. The two are mother and daughter.
"Since moving up here, I have met some wonderful people and have fallen in love with this little town," said Osborne. "Every member of this community that has graced us with their business has been so helpful and supportive. A gal down the road from me had her husband stop by with some Christmas lights ... she didn't think our shop lights were bright enough to attract enough attention. What a thoughtful woman!"
Backwoods Brew is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. It will also be open on weekends beginning June 11.
