Andrew Schleusner doubled, homered and drove in five runs to power the Kalispell Lakers AA to a 10-4 victory and a Memorial Day series sweep of the Glacier Twins A on Monday evening at Griffin Field.

Schleusner, 4 for 4 on the night, drilled a three-run shot to left-center field in the Lakers’ four-run fifth inning.

It was his first home run of the season. He also scored three times.

The Lakers (19-5) led 3-0 after two innings, but Glacier tied it with three runs in the fourth before Kalispell pulled away.

“I just think it’s part of process ... what we try to drill day-in and day-out and that’s to answer when our opponent’s score, extend the lead and score with two outs,” Lakers coach Ryan Malmin said.

“They have done a great job with that. We are also really fortunate with runners in scoring position to be hitting .380. That’s been a huge key to our success.”

Micah Benson, 1 for 4, also doubled for the Lakers and drove in two runs.

James Sampson-Keck, 3 for 4, had a double for the Twins. Tyler Murphy went 2 for 3.

Leif Ericksen was solid in eight innings on the mound to pick up the victory for Kalispell.

“Our pitching staff is incredibly efficient,” Malmin said. “They have limited the free passes and are pitching to contact.”

Kalispell won the first two games of this series 9-6 and 9-7.

Kalispell is back in action Wednesday hosting the Libby Loggers A for a single nine-inning game starting at 6 p.m.
