LAW ROUNDUP: Hog on the highway makes it home

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a report from a neighbor turned pig herder who reported that someone’s swine had gotten loose on Montana 206. The neighbor managed to get the hog off the highway and back inside the fence of the yard where he belonged without a deputy’s assistance.

 A report was taken from a man in West Glacier who reported that his girlfriend had threatened to slice his raft and damage his motorcycle the previous night. He awoke to an intact raft and motorcycle, but his car had been suspiciously keyed.

A woman called from the hospital two hours after giving birth and asked that her ex-husband bring her young son to her. The man said he did not think the woman was able to properly care for the boy. A deputy asked the two to treat each other like adults. A short while later the woman called and claimed the man had threatened her.

A group of more than six suspicious young men reported in camouflage near a river weren’t suspicious at all, a deputy found. The group was legally having fun with pellet and paintball guns.

A woman showed up at the hospital with minor injuries claiming that she had been sexually assaulted the night before outside of Columbia Falls.

A woman reported that her 13-year-old daughter had allegedly been struck by her friend’s intoxicated grandfather the night before.

A man called and said he had gotten stuck on Flathead Lake, drunk, when his 21-foot power boat ran out of gas. He made it back to shore of his own accord.

A deputy was unable to locate a couple who were allegedly playing tether ball in a park and smoking from a bong with an infant in tow.

A woman reported that her 14-year-old grandson was receiving messages via social media from a girl who had accused him of raping her over a year ago.

A woman reported that a peeping Tom was seen looking into her window on Central Avenue in Martin City. A deputy patrolled but could not find the suspect.


Two Bear Air was dispatched to Shoshone County in Idaho, where authorities were looking for a 60-year-old European man who allegedly went mushroom hunting without proper clothing and got lost.

Kalispell Police told a woman on Fifth Avenue East that she should try to get a no-contact order put in place after she said she had a recording of a man who allegedly wanted to kill her. The man was already incarcerated on an unrelated charge earlier in the evening. The woman claimed that she was assaulted by the man prior to his arrest.

A woman reported that a camper she had just bought had been stolen before she got a chance to register it in her own name. The camper was found on Whitefish Stage. The woman was told that county deputies intended to search the camper with permission from a warrant before it was returned to her.

A raft was cut from its trailer and stolen from Fifth Avenue West North.

A tricycle was found burning in the parking lot of a school on Third Avenue West. The trike was extinguished.

Men called to report that they knew where a woman wanted on a $100,000 warrant was staying, but when police arrived, officers did not find her. Officers did, however, inform the men that they too had warrants out for their arrest.

A rock was thrown through the window of a coffee business.

An officer investigated a call from Fifth Avenue West North, where a woman had allegedly been assaulted by three men.


A woman told Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies that someone called and tried to convince her to give 20 dollars, in return for which she would receive $3 million. She correctly intuited that this might be too good to be true.

A deer and dead bear were reportedly found near Pete Creek.

A woman in Libby reported that a man had posted her information on Craigslist and now she was receiving sexually themed messages.

A Fish, Wildlife and Parks officer was called after a calf slid down an embankment on Bear Creek Road and its mother could not reach it.

A woman on Yellowtail Road found that a bear had gotten into her yard. He was not in danger, but she was worried that he might have trouble moving along, since her yard was fenced in.

A person on Nevada Street in Libby reported that he or she was worried three bones left on a porch might have been placed there to send a message.
