MOSES LAKE ? When you have a chance to learn from the best, it's hard to pass up. So it was off to the Big Apple for a series of seminars with celebrity hair stylist Nick Arrojo for a Moses Lake business woman and her staff.
Arrojo was the hairstylist on The Learning Channel's ?What Not to Wear? for seven years and recently released his own product line, Arrojo. He's a modern icon of the industry and his signature razor-cutting technique is recognized and practiced worldwide.
So for Eden Salon, Inc. president and owner Jeannie Huck and her staff, it was an opportunity to see what's trending in New York City and learn from a guy who pioneered a precision-based, hairdressing method and design to create fashion-forward style.
?This was my third trip back, but for some of my staff it was their first time,? said Huck, who has owned and operated Eden Salon since 2003. ?It was a three-day event (at the world renowned ARROJO Studio), where we went to participate in hands-on classes in hair-cutting, hair-coloring, styling and see what's trending. I was able to participate in the business seminars led by industry leaders. It's just a great opportunity to learn from the best.?
The opportunity to take her entire staff is beneficial in many ways.
?When I attended by myself, I left inspired and motivated. It is so beneficial for the business in general,? she said. ?To experience that first hand, and to go to a place like New York City, there's nothing better. We have eight hairstylists, two manicurists, cosmetic technicians.
?From a staff perspective, being inspired by people who are renowned industry leaders we have read about in special magazines or see on television, was beneficial. To be able to meet them first hand, Nick Arrojo is now a friend of mine. It's exciting to have that type of connection.?
Eden's Salone carries a full line of Arrojo products, which are only available in just three salons in the state of Washington.
?We try to educate our clients on the benefits of Arrojo products. You can't even buy this line in Seattle,? Huck said. ?We had to meet a criteria. Arrojo doesn't just put his line anywhere, so it's quite an honor within the industry itself. It does connect us other industry professionals. Our customers trust us to provide them with quality service and Arrojo trusts us with their exclusive line.?
The Eden Salon staff that went New York included: Cindee Conger, front desk; Stephanie Devall, front desk; Kara Koziol, stylist/extension specialist; Kelly Bice, stylist; Katie Wilson, stylist; Charlotte Ballinger, stylist/vice president; and Hunt.
Eden Salon, Inc. might be a small-town location, but it is connected to a big world.
