WARDEN — Bailey Whitney scored two goals and Warden bounced Wahluke from the postseason 4-1.

The Cougars struggled in the first half, fighting swirling winds.

“It was just not pretty,” head coach Hannah Mohs said.

Despite the adverse conditions, Warden was able to score early on an assist from Whitney to Aubree Skone. In the second half, Whitney scored the first of her two goals in the 42nd minute.

Aaliyah Escamilla assisted on Whitney’s second goal in the 57th.

Yullisa Rodriguez finished a through ball from Skone for the Cougars’ fourth goal.

Warden will play Freeman Thursday in a winner-to-state game. The time and site are still to be determined.

Othello 1, Ellensburg 0

GRANDVIEW — Othello was able to advance to a crossover game with a win against Ellensburg 1-0.

After a scoreless first half, the Huskies score in the 60th minute on the second of two corner kicks in a row.

Nikki Velazquez fired a line drive on the ground that Tori Cantu was able to redirect into the goal.

“It’s a good, happy ending for us,” head coach Bernie Garza said.

Othello held on the final 20 minutes and withstood a bombardment of shots from Ellensburg. Jenelle Garza made two diving saves in the final five minutes to preserve the lead.

Othello will play the loser of the Great Northern League’s district championship game between Clarkston and East Valley on Saturday.

Selah 1, Ephrata 0

GRANDVIEW — Ephrata fell to Selah in the district championship game 1-0.

The Tigers will start their state tournament run next week.

YAKIMA — Moses Lake’s season ended in the district play-in stage with a loss to Eisenhower in five sets 25-13, 14-25, 25-22, 19-25, 16-14.

“Our team’s are very, very similar,” head coach Michael DeHoog said. “We kind of knew all year long they’d be close matches against each other.”

Gabi Rios led the Chiefs with nine kills. Yasmin Shateri and Elly Johnson had eight kills each.

Amy Lunderville had 18 assists and Alexa Cox added 20 digs.

DeHoog said he was proud of the team’s five seniors: Johnson, Lunderville, Cox, Cierra Devine and Abby Steffler.
