Libby High’s volleyball team started the Western B divisional on a good note Thursday afternoon by defeating the fourth seed from District 6B, Deer Lodge, 25-11, 26-24 and 25-22.

“It’s huge to get the first match,” coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said. “We struggled with hitting errors and serving errors, but we passed the ball really well.”

Libby was scheduled to play the winner of the Bigfork/Anaconda match at 8 p.m. Thursday night, which was past deadline.

Sophomore Jayden Winslow had 10 digs, eight kills and six aces, while sophomore Mehki Sykes had 14 kills and three blocks.

Other contributors were: Haylee Cannon with four aces; Brooklyn Rainer with eight kills; Alli Collins with 32 assists; Emily Mossburg with four blocks and Linsey Walker with seven digs.
