A Kalispell woman is facing two felony charges after allegedly stealing more than $40,000 from her employer.
Candice Annmarie Aston, 23, was booked into jail on Wednesday on a $5,000 warrant for felony deceptive practices and felony theft, a common scheme of charges that were filed last week.
According to court documents, Aston allegedly wrote herself checks totaling $33,387.69 from her employer, Taylor Insulation’s, bank account. The alleged theft was reported to Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Sept. 8. The insulation business also reported that $9,596.89 had been charged to the company’s credit card without permission. The card company reported that the phone number linked to the card had recently been changed to a number belonging to Aston.
Aston allegedly admitted to making the charges and writing the checks when she was interviewed by deputies on Sept. 29.
Aston called the Daily Inter Lake on Tuesday, saying that she was innocent of the felonies and did not know that she had been charged in court. She refused to answer more questions.
“I’m not commenting on your story,” Aston said.
She will be arraigned on Nov. 23.
