Manta Ray Aquatics swim hard at Harvest Meet

ELLENSBURG — Nine swimmers from Manta Ray Aquatics traveled to Ellensburg to participate in the Harvest Swim Meet this past weekend.
All 9 Manta Rays scored points for their team by finishing in the top eight in their individual events. Of particular note was 15-year-old Daniel Martinez and 8-year-old Aline Davis. Martinez took home three first-place finishes in his age group in the 100 freestyle (1:04.14), 100 backstroke (1:16.18), and 200 breaststroke (2:46.94).
Davis brought home first place in the 50 backstroke (48.37). 11-year-old Aidan Devine racked up the points for Moses Lake by finishing in the top eight in nine individual swims, including a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:59.75).
Jessica Williams also finished with two second-place finishes in the 200 breaststroke (2:44.43) and 400 individual medley (5:28.05). 10-year-old teammate Matthew Cramer also claimed a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (1:57.28).
Also participating at the meet was Kade Pack and Kylan Chivers. Pack finished third in the Men’s 11-12 500 freestyle (6:53.37), while Chivers took home two third-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (36.87) and 100 backstroke (1:43.15).
They were joined by the brother-sister pair of Cody and Kyla Tate. 11-year-old Cody claimed a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:37.87), and 8-year-old Kyla also earned a third-place in the 25 breaststroke (38.90). The Manta Rays look forward to hosting the Thankswimming Open at the Moses Lake High School Pool in the coming weeks.

CLOVIS, Calif. — Manta Ray Aquatics teammates Noah Heaps, 17, and Zachary Washburn, 14, joined 40 other elite swimmers from around the Inland Empire to compete at the Senior Zone Championship swim meet in Clovis, Calif. as part of the IES All-Star Team.
