MOSES LAKE — Reports on Friday that a student at Moses Lake High School was wearing a mask and carrying a gun were determined to be false, according to a senior Moses Lake police official.
According to Moses Lake Police Department Capt. Mike Williams, police received reports of a gun-toting student a little after 11 a.m. from someone not affiliated with the school.
The school was not aware of the situation until after the student had been investigated and cleared, Williams said.
“We made contact with the student and found he was carrying a piece of wood,” Williams said. “He was wearing a scarf over his face because it was cold.”
The student didn’t do anything wrong, Williams added, so he would not be charged with anything. He was just walking in a way “that attracted attention.”
