Two Spokane women pleaded not guilty on Monday to drug-related charges that resulted after a traffic stop in Libby earlier this month.

Edie May Hansen, 61, entered not guilty pleas in Lincoln County District Court to felony possession with intent to distribute and possession of dangerous drugs. She also pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor counts of drug paraphernalia and driving with a revoked license.

Hansen faces up to 25 years, six months in jail or prison and fines of up to $101,000 if convicted.

Doris Neva Hays, 43, pleaded not guilty to felony possession of dangerous drugs and misdemanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing a peace officer. She faces up to six years imprisonment and a fine of up to $51,000 if convicted.

The women were stopped on Nov. 2 in Libby after officers found out that Hansen allegedly had a felony warrant out for her arrest in Idaho for failure to appear for a methamphetamine-related charge.

According to court documents,  Hansen allegedly was found in possession of several baggies of a substance that field tested positive for meth.

Passenger Hays allegedly said that Hansen was in Libby to sell meth, Dodson said. Hays allegedly got into an argument with officers about not being able to access her truck and was arrested after she tried to rush by an officer.

Officers then allegedly found a bag with Hays’ identification and two baggies of suspected methamphetamine and a pipe believed to be used for smoking meth.
