EPHRATA — The Grant County Commissioners will hold a public hearing starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 6 to discuss the sale of 57 acres of undeveloped land at the Grant County Fairgrounds to the Moses Lake School District.

According to Grant County Commissioner Carolann Swartz, the “surplus land” the county is in talks to sell to the district is the rectangle of undeveloped land to the east of the fairgrounds that begins at the corner of Valley and Paxson.

“We need about 50 acres for a new high school,” said Michelle Price, superintendent of the Moses Lake School District. “That’s a great location site for a school, we have made an offer, but the county has not yet responded.”

The school district has scheduled a $135 million, 20-year bond referendum for early February. If approved, the funds would be used to build a new high school and a new elementary school, and refurbish portions of the existing high school.
