Saturday craft fair kicks off season of holiday bazaars

The annual Alberton Craft Fair kicked off the holiday season on Saturday, Nov. 26. Patrons were offered sweet treats including sugar cookies and cinnamon rolls as well as soup and sandwiches.

Connie Dove and Resa Briscoe, who organized the event said it was busier than last year and they had a steady stream of people come through the school cafeteria where vendors had their tables set up.

There were colorfully knitted scarves and hats, wooden kitchen utensils and picture frames, Holiday signs, baby cradles, gift-wrapped bowls of fresh fruit, lotions, and a table full of holiday decorations.

Also, unique necklaces made out of imported Italian ladder ribbon, “they’re feather-light and come in yummy colors,” said their creator, Pat Hayden of Paw Print Studio.

There were also hand forged snakes made from horse hoof rasp, wooden thimbles, knitted blankets, quilts and much more.

Kristina Solinger was also selling raffle tickets for a quilt to raise funds her next pageant, Miss Teen Montana to be held in September.

This was the start of the season with several more craft shows scheduled throughout the county. Including the Friends of the Library Christmas Bazaar on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This will include a visit with author, Leslie Budewitz at 2 p.m.

The Wells Fargo Holiday Stroll will take place on Dec. 3 from 11 to 2 p.m. at the Old School in Superior. Proceeds support all the non-profits of Mineral County. The United Methodist Church of Alberton will have their Holiday Bazaar on Dec. 10 from 10 to 3 p.m. and there will also be a Christmas Bazaar at the Community Center in St. Regis from 9 to 5 p.m. that same day.
