David Lee Dye, 82

David went to be with the Lord peacefully on Sept. 23, 2016, at the Hospice House of North Idaho. He was born in Missoula, Mont., to George E. Dye and Elizabeth “Babe” A. Zeier Dye. David spent his childhood years in Corvallis, Mont., with his parents and older brother George “Dim” Dye. He graduated from Frenchtown High School, in Frenchtown, Mont., in 1953.
Shortly after graduating high school, Dave moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he worked for Coeur d’Alene Creamery and then Boge Bakery. In 1964, Dave and his first wife, Darlene Hedge moved to northern California with their four children Debra, David, Darren and Dana. There, Dave went into business with a family friend running the Arctic Circle Drive-In. In 1970 the family moved back to Coeur d’Alene.
In 1972, Dave moved to Red Bluff, Calif., with his second wife Sharon “Sis” Joyner and her four children Paul, Patsy, Shellie and Scott. There he managed a large restaurant until 1983. He and Sis had two more children while in California, Tracy and Kari.
In 1986, Dave and Sis moved back to Coeur d’Alene. He went to work for The Coeur d’Alene Resort as a chauffeur until 1997. While chauffeuring for The Resort, he also took on another job in 1988 for the Coeur d’Alene School District as a school bus driver. He retired from driving school bus in 2005.
Dave lived for laughter, you could always count on him for a good joke or prank. He was also a sports enthusiast, always watching a game, whether it be football, tennis or golf. He also loved the outdoors and had many stories to tell about his hunting excursions.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents George and Elizabeth Dye, his brother George “Dim” Dye; his son David W. Dye and his stepson Scott R. Thomas. He is survived by his sons Darren Dye of Post Falls, Idaho, Dana Dye, and Tracy Dye, both of Spokane, Wash.; daughters Debra Dye of Spokane, Wash. and Kari Henley of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; stepchildren Paul Kulju, Patsy Avila and Shellie Riley, all of California; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
