Lady Trojans fall to Eureka Lions

The Lady Trojans lost to the Eureka Lions on Thursday and the Bigfork Valkyries on Saturday.

Despite losing the battle during Thursday’s four-games match of 16-25, 25-23, 17-25, 16-25, Troy head volleyball coach Mandy Love said that the team played very well.

“I was pleased with our back court and our defense played pretty well, but we couldn’t put a ball away,” Love said.

Olivia Short led the team’s ace score with three, with a total of six for the team. With 20 kills overall, Alyssa Lewis scored 11 for the team, with Allie Coldwell and Sami Rohrich putting down three each. Lewis, Coldwell and Rohrich also had blocks two balls each, with eight for the team. Allie Brown provided 16 of the team’s 20 assists, and Kaitlyn Downey had 18 of the 38 digs.

The Lady Trojans will face off against Noxon tonight.

On Saturday, the Valkyries defeated the Lady Trojans in four games: 25-8, 23-25, 25-18, 25-13.

The Lady Trojans were led in kills by Alyssa Lewis, with five, supported by Allie Brown’s seven assists. Lewis also led the team in blocks with seven for the team’s total. Kaitlyn Downey, continuing her superlative work as a back court player, made 20 of the team’s 28 digs. She also led the team in aces, with three out of the team’s five.
