21st annual Mayor's Awards in the Arts winners announced

COEUR d'ALENE — The city of Coeur d'Alene Arts Commission has announced the winners of its 21st annual Mayor's Awards in the Arts.

Presented by the arts commission and the city of Coeur d'Alene, the Mayor's Awards in the Arts are handed out each year to recognize and encourage excellence in the arts, and to stimulate and support awareness of the arts throughout the city. The recipients of this year's awards are:

EXCELLENCE IN THE ARTS: Harold Balazs

SUPPORT OF THE ARTS: Mary Lou Reed

ARTS IN EDUCATION: Pam Asher

STUDENT EXCELLENCE IN THE ARTS: Keely Brennan

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: Steve Gibbs

Mayor Steve Widmyer will present the awards at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, at the Hagadone Event Center. The event is open to the public, and anyone interested in attending to support the winners is invited.
