Woman, man found dead in separate incidents

A 30-year-old woman was found dead at a residence in Libby Thursday morning after a friend reported that a woman had been assaulted during the night.

A call came in at about 10 a.m. and Libby Police and Volunteer Ambulance responded.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office identified Sheena Devine as the victim.

Lincoln County Sheriff Roby Bowe said they have a a 42-year-old male person of interest in custody.

Six or seven sheriff’s office employees will be working on the case through the night, Bowe said.

The case is under investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation.

Man dead on railroad

A man was found on the railroad dead Thursday after Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad officials notified the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office of a possible deceased person in the Wolf Creek area.

A second train stopped and verified the report, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies responded and found a man who had been run over by a train.

Railroad traffic was suspended while deputies and the coroner recovered the body.

“It appears accidental at this time,” Sheriff Roby Bowe said.

The incident is under investigation, and the man’s name has not been released pending notification of family.
