SANDPOINT — A Priest River teen is being prosecuted as an adult on rape and kidnapping charges.

Ryan N. Greene made an initial appearance Friday in Bonner County Magistrate Court via video feed from the county jail. Judge Justin Julian sustained Greene’s $20,000 and appointed a public defender to represent him, court records show. Julian also entered an order forbidding Greene from having any contact with the alleged victim, who is 15.

A criminal complaint alleges Greene, 17, raped and kidnapped the teen in June 2015. The complaint said the kidnapping was done in order to carry out the rape and that the teen tried to fend off the attack but her resistance was overcome by force or violence.

A probable cause affidavit was not on file, nor were there records of the testimony that the prosecution used to file the complaint, which may indicate that the case is still being investigated.

Greene has no prior criminal history in Idaho, according to the state supreme court data repository.

A preliminary hearing in the case is pending.
