SPOKANE — As expected, it was a battle.
But after 90 minutes, North Idaho College and the Community Colleges of Spokane played to a 1-1 draw in a Northwest Athletic Conference match at Spokane Falls Community College in Spokane.
“It was a back and forth game of contrasting styles,” NIC women’s soccer coach Dan Hogan said. “Spokane likes to play fairly direct launching numerous balls to their athletic forwards making the game fairly stretched out. We would work to build into the front third of the field, but our passes in their final third of the field would be just off target or get cut out by (Spokane center back) Maison Stults.”
Spokane (11-0-4, 7-0-1 NWAC) opened the scoring on a goal from Maddy Boyd on an assist from Post Falls High product Anisha Nicholson in the 6th minute. Sandpoint product Sterling Healy evened the score in the 54th minute for NIC on an assist from former Coeur d’Alene High standout Meg Lowery.
NIC (9-1-1, 7-0-1 NWAC) travels to Walla Walla on Wednesday.
