David was born to Andrew and Janet O’Neal in Denver, Colo., on March 30, 1939. He lived most of his younger life in San Diego County, Calif., graduating from Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach in 1958. He served in the U.S. Army for four years, and came home to civilian life in 1967. He worked for Safeway Stores for 34 years, delivering groceries all over Southern California and Nevada until he retired in 2002 as the No. 1 driver on their roster.

David met his wife, Jackie, at Denny’s restaurant in Carlsbad, Calif., where she was a waitress. He was a quiet and shy man, so their first date was arranged by one of his fellow delivery drivers. He said it was the best night of his life! In a short period of time he fell in love with her and her two children. They were married three months later on June 17, 1972, in a little chapel in Carlsbad. They made their home in Mission Viejo, Calif., until the children were raised, married and had children of their own. They moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in July 2004. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and always appreciated the beauty of the Earth.

David was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Feb. 15, 1977, and served as an evangelizer for his Almighty God, Jehovah (Psa. 83:18), until he took his last breath. He died with Jehovah’s promised resurrection hope for the future (Rev 21:3,4), and always put his faith and trust in the ransom sacrifice of Jehovah’s Son, Jesus Christ. He made many friends throughout his years, and all have nothing but wonderful memories and gentle things to say about him.

David died peacefully at home on Oct. 1, 2016, with many loved ones around him. David is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jackie; his children: son Timothy O’Neal and his wife, Karen of Maple Valley, Wash., and daughter Tamra Warren-Tillich of Hayden, Idaho; and two sisters, Kathy Anderson of Poulsbo, Wash., and Jeannie Weaver of Imperial Beach, Calif. He was blessed with five wonderful grandchildren, Taylor Warren of Seattle, Wash., Chancelor and Canyon O’Neal of Seattle, Patience O’Neal of Maple Valley, Wash., and Tanner Tillich of Hayden. He is also survived by several uncles, aunts, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews that loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed by all.

Memorial arrangements have been made for 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8500 N. Ramsey Road, Hayden, Idaho.
