John W. Carrico, 90, went home to Our Lord and Savior and cherished loved ones on Sept. 23, 2016. He was born Sept. 22, 1926, to George and Ruth Carrico in Susanville, Calif.

John was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Naval forces. John met Betty Lou in Oregon where they started their family, later moving to Coeur d’Alene to remain longtime residents. His career was in drilling and blasting, He was a longtime member of Laborers Local No. 238 of Spokane, Wash., which we give great thanks to, for the care and professional services provided for him and his family for years.

John loved to work, dance, fish, cut firewood, tease and laugh. We are not sure out of this list which one comes first, so we settle for a tie. Most of all he missed his loving wife, Betty Lou; daughter Rebecca Lynn and son George David, who all preceded him in death.

John knew and worked for several excavating and building contractors in and around the Coeur d’Alene and Pacific Northwest area for many years. Thanks to all of them for the opportunity they provided and the friendships that were made along the way. Thanks to his friends for the good memories of his life. Special thanks to Hospice of North Idaho for their professionalism, care and services in our father’s final hours. Johnny was a great loving father and friend.

John is survived by his sons, Paul of Rathdrum, Bill of Coeur d’Alene and Mark of Hayden; his brothers, Melvin of Portland, Ore., and James of Stanfield, Ore.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel.

Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit John’s memorial and sign his guest book at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
