Congressman Ryan Zinke is taking a short break from campaigning to be with his family during his mother-in-law’s illness.

“After 86 years of health, happiness and blessing, my dear mother-in-law has fallen ill and begun her final days with us,” Rep. Zinke said in a press statement Monday. “Lola, the kids and I appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers. It comforts us and is incredibly humbling to know how loved we are.”

Zinke is expected to rejoin the campaign trail later this week.

The Republican from Whitefish is running to retain his seat in the U.S. House. He is challenged by Democrat Denise Juneau, the current state superintendent of public instruction.
