Musicians selected for All-State

Several area high school students have been selected as Montana’s best musicians to play in the All-State Band, Chorus and Orchestra Festival.

Students auditioned for a chance at being selected for the festival, which takes place Oct. 19 through 21 in Great Falls.

Flathead High School

Band: Lauren Vance, flute.

Orchestra: Tommy Diegel, bass; Meredith Iams, violin; Andrew Schultz, viola; and Anna Schultz, flute;

Choir: Alex Coulter, bass 2; Toby Diegel, tenor 2; Brynna Finn, alto 1; Mia Kluesner, alto 2; Abby Larsen, alto 1; and Charlotte Mack, alto 1.

Glacier High School

Band: Evan Kohler, tuba; Max Puglielli, percussion; and Trevor Woodward, percussion.

Orchestra: Kenna Bemis, violin; and Anna Cecil, viola.

Choir: Brenden Anderson, bass 1; Alicia Bernhardt, soprano 2; Nick Brester, bass 1; Jack Desmul, tenor 1; Millie Espeseth, soprano 2; Alyssa Framness, soprano 2; Nathan Gironda, tenor 1; Zachary Hill, tenor 2; Allison Kalvig, alto 2; Mia Kintzler, soprano 2; Emily Naomi, alto1; Spencer Pisk, bass 1; and Emmett Van Allen, bass 1.

Whitefish High School

Orchestra: Matthew Perez, viola; and Eric Holdhusen, trumpet.

Libby High School

Band: Sabra Hancock, tenor Saxophone.

Climate change awards announced

Climate Smart Glacier Country announced its Climate Smart Champions during a ceremony at the Earth Day celebration April 21 in Whitefish. Awards were presented to businesses, youth and an individual who are leaders in building local solutions to climate change challenges.
