SANDPOINT — At today’s NAMI Far North (National Alliance on Mental Illness) monthly meeting, Jan Burt, NAMI Board member, will present and demonstrate her latest training as peer support specialist.

Burt describes herself as a person who is “struggling from and in recovery from manic depression, OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and a Mixed Anxiety Disorder.” She functions as a mentor for others struggling with mental issues, and sees this new training as good for use in all relationships. She would like to share this with the community.

The meeting will be 5:30 p.m., in the classroom of the old Bonner General Heath building, 520 N. Third Ave.

After the presentation will be refreshments, followed by two support groups: Burt will facilitate a group for those living with mental illness; another will be for those who care about them.

All are welcome to attend the free meeting.
