LAW ROUNDUP: Attorney allegedly stiffed by client

Whitefish Police took a report from an attorney who said that she had received a credit card number to charge her client $2,900, but that the client had canceled the payment.


Kalispell Police Department warned a man that had become belligerent with workers at a liquor store that he was not welcome at the scene and should move along.

An officer reviewed video of a man taking a gym bag from a gym and determined that two ladies had given the man access to the facility by holding the door open. The man went into the bathroom, emerged, took the bag and walked out. Luckily, only clothes and keys were missing.

Someone complained that there had been a lot of transient activity on Claremont Street, including one incident where a bus driver had to use force to get an unauthorized person to leave the bus.

A person complained that his or her vehicle had been keyed on South Main Street.

Someone complained about people allegedly sulking around on Second Street West, possibly scoping vehicles out for theft.

Someone was worried that a person selling a gun on Facebook in order to pay for a funeral might be breaking the law.

A call came in from Fifth Avenue West North to complain that someone had tried to light a towel on fire and then catch a house on fire. A report was taken. The fire was easily extinguished.

A chainsaw, rifle, and ammunition were reported stolen from Appleway Drive.

Extra patrol was conducted on West Montana Street after someone reported that men in ski masks had been lurking in the area.

Someone on Saint Andrews Drive reported that someone’s son had been approached by a man about making some money by helping commit a burglary. There were not many details given for investigators to follow up on.


Columbia Falls Police took a report about mail possibly being stolen out of mailboxes on Scenic Drive.

Pumpkins were smashed on someone’s porch on Grace Road.
