Michael 'Mike' Leonard Rosenkranz, 69

Michael “Mike” Leonard Rosenkranz, 69, passed away Oct. 15, 2016, following a struggle with cancer. He was born April 29, 1947, in Spokane, Wash., the only son of Leonard and Florence Rosenkranz.

Mike graduated from Shadle Park High School in 1966 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an Engineman/Gunners Mate. Following basic training, he was sent to Vietnam for a one-year tour of duty, then reenlisted for a second tour. Upon being honorably discharged, Mike made his home in Coeur d’Alene Idaho, where he met and married Phyllis M. Brueggeman in 1976, and celebrated 40 wonderful years together.

In 1989, Mike took a position as store manager for Crawford Doors and moved his family to Walla Walla, Wash., where they resided until returning “home” to Coeur d’Alene in 2014.

Mike is survived by his wife, Phyllis; daughter Kristy Altsuler (Jason); son Brian Rosenkranz (Elizabeth); daughter Janice Niculescu (George); grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Karen Hiller (Dick); sister-in-law Darlene Brueggeman (Terry Weeks); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and “honorary” grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his oldest son, Charles “Charley” Rosenkranz of Richland, Wash.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.
