Phyllis Marie (Hanson) Book went to be with the Lord on Oct. 7, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Her husband and her daughter were by her side.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at the First Lutheran Church with a potluck following.
Phyllis was born on Sept. 8, 1937, in Estherville, Iowa, to Andros and Sylvia Hanson. She grew up on a farm northeast of Estherville. Phyllis married Ronald Book on Sept. 9, 1956, at the Estherville Lutheran Church and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year.
Ron and Phyllis moved to Sandpoint in 1968 with their four children, Brian, Lori, David and Todd. Phyllis went to nursing school and graduated in 1978 as a licensed practical nurse. She worked at Bonner General Health for 34 years before retiring. After retiring, Phyllis enjoyed her garden, her family, hand quilting quilts for her grandchildren and making cards. Phyllis was very active in church, singing in the church choir at Christ Our Redeem-er Lutheran Church in Sand-point.
Phyllis will be forever lived and missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Ron; her four children, Brian (Lisa) Book, Lori (Frank) Weiler, David Book and Todd Book; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two brothers, David and Phillip; and many other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and five brothers.
Memorials may be made to Christ Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Sandpoint, Idaho, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
