A man has admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol for a sixth time.
Alex John Jungwirth, 31, pleaded guilty to a felony driving under the influence of alcohol charge in Flathead District Court on Thursday.
According to court documents, Jungwirth was found in a truck that had crashed through a guardrail on Sept. 30 and severed the barrier on Montana 83 near the intersection of Landmark Lane.
Jungwirth smelled of alcohol and refused to give a name before telling officers that his name was Ben. An officer located his driver’s license. An open container of beer was found in the vehicle.
Jungwirth refused to provide a breath sample, was uncooperative and answered most of the officers’ questions by swearing. According to court documents, Jungwirth was convicted of driving under the influence in 2015, 2011, 2008, and twice in 2007. Jungwirth is currently on probation for the 2015 conviction, which resulted after Jungwirth was stopped for going 50 mph in a 25 mph zone in Polson. In that case he gave the investigating officer a fake name, fake date of birth and fake Social Security number.
A sentencing date is set for Dec. 15.
