LAW ROUNDUP: Neighbors raise a stink over skunk hunt

Flathead County Sheriff’s Office responded to Tamarack Lane, where someone was upset about a woman shooting in a trailer park with children. The woman doing the shooting had a nice conversation with a deputy, who noted that she was having a tough time getting rid of some skunks that sprayed her cat. The woman was put in touch with animal control officers who are highly trained in safely removing stinky pests.
A deputy responded to U.S. 2 outside of Kalispell where a message threatening a teen’s life was allegedly left by another teen. The parent of the offending child was notified of the serious threat and the victim’s parent was left to mull whether or not charges should be filed in youth court.
A vehicle was broken into on U.S. 2 outside of Columbia Falls. Someone smashed the vehicle’s passenger-side window. Extra patrol was scheduled.
A trail camera was stolen from Tanglewood Lane near Whitefish. The victim had a suspect in mind.
A man called from U.S. 2 in Columbia Falls to report that a boat and a truck had been broken into. Tools were missing from the scene.
A man reported that items had been stolen from a boat parked on Jellison Lane in Columbia Falls.
Someone reported finding a deceased pit bull in the McGinniss Creek area that had apparently been shot in the head.
A wallet and two shotguns were reported missing from vehicles parked at a business on Half Moon Road.
Whitefish Police took a report from someone who lost a blue wallet and silver phone somewhere in town. The owner suspected theft might be involved in the wallet’s disappearance, but wanted to report it missing just in case someone turned it in.
Columbia Falls Police went to look for nails that were allegedly scattered on U.S. 2. Someone had complained that a couple of people had gotten nails in their tires.
A man called from Missoula to report that he had been the victim of fraudulent check cashing. The man thought the checks might have been stolen from his ex-wife’s mailbox.
Someone tried to cash a counterfeit $20 bill at a grocery store and then allegedly left the store once the suspected fraud was discovered.
Someone complained that a “little car” with a loud muffler kept going back and forth on Seventh Street West. An officer was unable to locate the pesky car.
Kalispell Police took a report from Seventh Avenue West where a man told officers his bank noticed several unauthorized checks written from his account. The man believed the checks had been stolen from his mailbox.
A drive-thru worker reported someone was trying to cash a fraudulent check.
Someone reported a storage unit off Airport Road had been broken into through a hole in the wall. Oddly, the owner of one of the units said belongings were in his or her unit that were not supposed to be there.
Someone from a bar called to report a man had threatened to come back and shoot the place up.
A man entered a business on West Idaho Street and reportedly threatened to kill two workers before knocking over some beers and leaving. Workers wanted officers to tell the man he was not welcome.
