QUINCY — A report of a Quincy High School student getting shot and killed in a gang-related shooting was determined to be a hoax.

The Quincy Police Department recently received word of a Facebook post stating a QHS student was shot and killed in a gang-related shooting. Police officials determined no one had been shot or killed, as the Facebook post indicated. The Facebook post was reportedly generated through a prank website, www.react365.com.

“This is false and should be disregarded. We ask citizens to please be careful of these prank posts and avoid spreading false rumors,” stated the QPD on Monday.

The website allows visitors to create fake news stories and "prank" their friends. Visitors have the ability to share the fake news stories with their friends on various social media platforms.

"This website is an entertainment website, news are created by users. These are humorous news, fantasy, fictional, that should not be seriously taken or as a source of information," reads a statement on www.react365.com.

The Quincy School District stated it is working with the QPD to investigate who made the fake Facebook post. If you have any questions on the incident contact the QPD at 509-787-4718.
