LETTER: Zinke 'spineless political animal'

Regarding Rep. Ryan ZInke’s advertising tag line, “Less politics. More leadership”, I believe we all need to take a closer look.

Rep. Zinke, how nice that your lovely wife stands by you as you promise a safer Montana. What are you saying?

Another of your ad’s unsupported claim of unvetted refugees streaming into our state couldn’t be further from the truth. Completely based on fear. CBS’ “60 Minutes” confirmed recently that Syrian refugees are vetted first by the United Nations, then later Homeland Security, CIA, and Department of Defense. This takes 18-24 months. A terrorist could more easily enter our country as a student or tourist.

Then you “throw your hat into the ring” as John Boehner resigned as speaker of the House. Not having completed even one term? Sounds more like ego than leadership to me.

And you compared Donald Trump to President Reagan in your Billings introduction. Now with the vicious accounts of Trump’s attacks on women, you confessed to a reporter that you consulted with House leadership as to how to respond. Why can’t you think on your own feet? This sounds more like politics to me.

I believe that you are not a leader this country needs. Your actions are more like a spineless political animal. I have cast my vote for Denise Juneau, with more experience and wisdom that Montana needs. —Nancy T. Glueckert, Polson
