In Bo Kirk's truck, the driver is using Kirk's debit card at the ATM while a passenger in the front seat appears to be rifling through items in the truck. The truck was found burned shortly after on N. Rim Rock Road and Kirk's body was found Tuesday in Coeur d'Alene National Forest.

POST FALLS — Whenever there was a call for help, William "Bo" Kirk was at the forefront.

Kirk, who was missing since Saturday night, was identified Wednesday as the person whose body was found Tuesday near the Hayden Creek Shooting Range, northeast of Hayden Lake, in the Coeur d'Alene National Forest.

"He was very involved in our Hope Committee that helps out in the community," said Rick Rasmussen, CEO of Northwest Specialty Hospital in Post Falls, where Kirk worked and was last seen before he went missing.

"He was a typical North Idaho guy who loved playing and watching sports, including the Seahawks, and was a very personable family man. He was just a super guy."

Law enforcement officials didn't release the cause of death of the Coeur d'Alene 41-year-old who was an X-ray technician at the hospital since 2012, but said the case is now being investigated as a homicide.

"We're certain that this death was caused by a different person and we're investigating this as a homicide, but we can't get into the details of why," Kootenai County Sheriff Ben Wolfinger said.

The autopsy was performed Wednesday afternoon.

"The body was found dumped off at the side of a road," Post Falls police Chief Scot Haug said. "He still had his work badge on."

Haug said detectives haven't found any possible reason why someone would want to kill Kirk.

"That's the million-dollar question," Haug said. "Everything we're hearing is that he lived a normal life, had a good relationship with his family, worked at Northwest Specialty with no problems, had no enemies, criminal history or credit problems."

Law enforcement officials declined to comment on any evidence that was found near the body and his truck that was found engulfed in flames in the 23000 block of North Rimrock Road in the north part of the county at 9:43 p.m. on Saturday. They also declined to comment on any e-mail or telephone conversations Kirk had during the 24 hours before he disappeared.

Kirk is survived by his wife, Amanda, and their three children. Kirk's family members declined to comment on Wednesday due to the shock and pain. They earlier described him as a great husband, father, brother and person.

"We can't believe this," Rasmussen said. "Words can't describe what the family must be feeling. Bo will always be a member of our family and we will come together to support Bo's family."

Hospital staff are organizing meals for the family and a benefit account at area Spokane Teachers Credit Union branches, where Amanda works, has been set up.

Law enforcement declined to release any names of suspects, but are wading through more than 300 tips, including some attempting to identify a suspect or suspects. Haug said he's confident that the suspect or suspects will be caught.

"This is a solvable case based on the evidence we have seen," he said.

Police continue to seek information on two people in Kirk's silver 2015 GMC truck on Saturday night at two local bank drive-throughs over an hour after he got off work. The driver used Kirk's debit card to withdraw an undisclosed amount of cash.

The driver was dressed with a dark Carhartt stocking cap, tan, gray and black flannel shirt, light-colored fingerless gloves with black latex gloves underneath and had a black and white bandana over their mouth.

Some tipsters have told police about what appears to be V-neck material similar to hospital scrubs under the flannel shirt of the driver.

"That's something that's being carefully analyzed," Haug said. "We have an officer trained at analyzing videos and have software to take a closer look."

Rasmussen declined to comment on any details regarding the investigation. He said staff believes Kirk had good relations with all his co-workers.

Police said a review of more video revealed a passenger in the truck. Haug said it appears the passenger is wearing a multi-colored hat with ties that dangle down the sides.

While police don't know for certain, they believe the driver is a male, based on the individual’s characteristics and mannerisms, Haug said. Features of the passenger make it difficult to tell that person’s gender, he said.

Police on Monday released surveillance photos of the masked person believed to be driving Kirk's truck at an ATM machine at 8:34 p.m. at the U.S. Bank at 6376 N. Government Way in Dalton Gardens and then at 8:46 p.m. at bankcda at 162 W. Hayden Ave. in Hayden. Two withdrawals were made during the same visit to the U.S. Bank.

The U.S. Bank video released Wednesday is pointed down on the driver and shows more of the front of the person's clothing and a second person in the vehicle. The bankcda video released Monday captured the driver at eye level.

Law enforcement officials said a red car went through the U.S. Bank drive-through after Kirk's truck did and they are asking the occupants of that red car to contact them to assist in the investigation.

Law enforcement declined to release the amount of the withdrawals by the driver of Kirk's truck.

Kirk's body was found about 8 miles from the spot where the truck he'd driven to work earlier in the day was found on fire.

"We believe (the suspect) is somebody who knows the area well," said Rasmussen, referring to the remote location.

After Kirk's body was found, Forest Service Road 437, commonly known as Hayden Creek Road, was closed between East Hayden Lake Road and Forest Service Road 206 during the investigation.

Kirk was last seen by a co-worker walking toward his truck shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday from Northwest Specialty Hospital in Post Falls. The hospital does not have surveillance of the truck leaving the hospital.

Rasmussen said family expected Kirk to arrive home around 7:20 p.m.

"He was supposed to go to the haunted house that night and bring home ice cream to the family," Rasmussen said.

Haug said his department was contacted by Amanda to report Kirk as missing after he didn't come home from work.

About 40 people, including Kirk's family members and friends, attended Wednesday's multi-agency press conference at the Post Falls Police Department when it was announced that it was Kirk's body that was found.

"It's a high priority for all of us," Haug said. "We realize there's concern in the community about what happened and we want to get to the bottom of this as quickly as possible.

"Our hearts go out to the family that has been sitting on pins and needles since Saturday night. We hope that the tips continue to come in."

Wolfinger said businesses along Government Way in the Hayden area are encouraged to check their surveillance videos around the times the truck drove by and to contact law enforcement if video captured the truck.

Those with information are encouraged to call Post Falls Police at 773-3517 or the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office at 446-1300 or leave a tip at www.postfallspolice.com or the Post Falls Police Facebook page.
