Dorothy Louise Peterson, 93 years old, of Hayden, Idaho, was born Nov. 25, 1922, on Aunt and Uncle Holmberg’s homestead in Terry, Mont. Dorothy passed away on Oct. 22, 2016, at Hospice House, in Coeur d’Alene. She grew up in Terry and graduated from Terry High School in 1942.

Dorothy met and married Charles (Pete) V. Peterson and had three children: Vic, Sharon and Charlie. Dorothy resided in the Coeur d’Alene and Hayden Lake area throughout her adult life. She worked at Ships’ Service as a cashier at Farragut Naval Training Station during World War II and also worked at Pinewood Manor Assisted Living in Coeur d’Alene. Dorothy volunteered at the Southwest Indian School for approximately 10 years, enjoying it a great deal. Dorothy started attending Hayden Friends/Anthem Friends Church in 1961 and attended up until Oct. 16, the last Sunday of her life. Her church was her passion, but she also loved games such as Scrabble and Chicken Foot.

Surviving Dorothy are her sons, Vic (Sharrie) Peterson and Charlie (Terri) Peterson; grandchildren Tresa (Ken) Redford, Kevin (Valerie) Livesay, Anthony Peterson, Christine (Tim) Brandt, Sean (Jaime) Peterson and Tyler Peterson; 10 great-grandchildren and sister Nellie Aasen. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Goldie Groves Hendrickson; husband Charles (Pete) V. Peterson; daughter Sharon Louise Livesay; brother Raymond Hendrickson; and sisters Clarice Buckingham, Ruth Wood, Gladys Roberts and Breta Strobel.
