Lougene Margaret (Dietzel) Murray of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at the age of 83.
Lougene was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Nathel and Lewis Dietzel. She grew up in Sandpoint and graduated from Sandpoint High School in 1950. Lougene then married Eugene Murray that same year on July 31.
She was a mother and homemaker until she went to work as a secretary at Priest River High School in 1975; she worked there for 20 years. She retired and moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1995.
She spent her final two-and-a-half years at The Village at Orchard Ridge Assisted Living. Lougene loved her family and having people around her.
Her interests included playing the piano and singing, playing cards, crafting, crocheting many items to sell at the farmers market, puzzles (paper or Kindle) and connecting with people.
Lougene was married 63 years to Gene Murray before he passed away on Aug. 14, 2013. Their four children include Patrick (wife Pam), Dianne (husband Carl), Mike (wife Deneil), and Rick (wife Diane). Patrick passed away on July 30, 2012, from ALS. Lougene is survived by three of her four children, one sibling, nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, at Yates Funeral Home, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, Idaho. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, at Evergreen Cemetery, 681 Cemetery Road, Priest River, Idaho.
