Weekend activities planned for Spirit Lake, St. Maries

Family activities are planned for Spirit Lake and St. Maries during the upcoming Labor Day Weekend.
Paul Bunyan Days will be held in St. Maries today through Monday.
The carnival and community booths open in City Park each day at noon.
A pet and doll parade will be held at 5 tonight on Main.
Saturday's agenda includes the 5-kilometer Karen Ebert Memorial Run/Walk at St. Maries High School at 9 a.m., water events at noon and music at City Park all afternoon. There will be a low-aerial fireworks show at 9 p.m.
Sunday's schedule includes a community breakfast at the Eagles on Main Street from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., quilt show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Heyburn Elementary, an auction at noon and a fireworks show at the soccer field at 9 p.m.
On Monday, the parade will be at 10 a.m. on Main, followed by logging events at 1 p.m.
Spirit Lake's activities on Sunday and Monday include food booths, games and crafts sponsored by Spirit Lake Visions in City Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Vendors can sign up by calling 623-2275. There will also be a car show in the park, and entrants should register by calling 818-8473.
On Monday, the parade sponsored by Roy Racy VFW Post 1473 — dubbed the world's second-shortest — will be held at 11 a.m. Entrants should line up on Third Avenue between Maine and New Hampshire by 10:30 a.m. There is no entry fee, no pre-registration and horses are welcome.
