ANNIVERSARIES

Jim and Pat Connell

60th Anniversary

On Aug. 29, 2016, Major Jim Connell AF (Ret.) and his charming wife, Pat, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. In Jim’s words, “an enchanting 60 years!”

In July, a time convenient for all, 27 members of their extended family met at Cave Bay on Lake Coeur d’Alene for a family celebration. The family came from as far east as Durham, N.H., as far west as Seattle, as far south as Tucson, Ariz., and points in between. The family consists of four sons, two daughters, their spouses, eight grands and three great-grands. Last evening, their elder daughter and her husband traveled from Seattle to Sandpoint for an additional celebration.

Jim’s first career was military, his second career was marketing, his third career was mediation and arbitration.

Pat’s first career was family, her second was volunteer management, her third was marketing executive, and her fourth was managing visiting Elder Hostel groups, representing North Idaho College.

Today, Pat, a perpetual volunteer, works at Hospice House, takes the Eucharist to shut-ins and comforts the dying.

Jim is a combat veteran of the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. More importantly, he held key positions in the Cold War for more than one-third of his military career.

Jim, a perpetual statesman, is second vice president of North Idaho Pachyderms. He contributes to citizen awareness of the ongoing threats to our Constitution and to the American culture.

Jim and Pat plan to spend their remaining years in Kootenai County. In Jim’s words, “The next stop is Arlington.”
