Kalispell’s Logan Lindholm survived a sudden death playoff to win the 79th International Labor Day Tournament on Monday at Buffalo Hill Golf Club.

Lindholm came to the 18th hole on the final day tied with second-day leader Ryan Buls of Kalispell and Cameron Dunning of Calgary, Alberta. All three players had difficulty on the short par four, with Lindholm and Dunning carding bogey fives and Buls fell out of the playoff with a double bogey.

In sudden death, Lindholm hit the fairway on the par 4 first hole, while Dunning found the right rough. Dunning’s second shot clipped a tree and fell 50 yards short of the green. Lindholm lofted his second effort onto the green and within 25 feet of the hole. Dunning’s third was just short of the green and his fourth from the apron settled within two feet. Lindholm calmly lagged his first putt within inches and tapped in for his victory.

Lindholm also won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013.

Former champion Kyle Mossfeldt of Whitefish birdied the 18th hole to finish one shot out of the playoff, tying Buls for third.

On the ladies side, Julia Gregg, 15, of Farmers Branch, Texas, stretched out her eight-shot lead after two days into an 18-shot victory. Her 213 total easily broke the tournament scoring record, as she finished 3-under-par. Her Sunday round of 72 included four birdies on the back nine.

Former champion Kali Gordon of Okotoks, Alberta, settled for second with a 231 score.
