BLACK: Equal opportunity skewer
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 years, 4 months AGO
In a Coeur d’Alene Press letter of Sept. 2, John Dixon stated that I claimed: “Donald Trump is a narcissist and therefore unfit to be supported by Mr. Black for the presidency.” Here is the direct quote from my article:
“From an examination of the list above, it is obvious a high level of narcissism does not disqualify a person from being the United States President.” It is the extreme aspect of narcissism that I was addressing when writing about Donald Trump.
Mr. Dixon called my comments “psychobabble.” My thoughts echo those of respected conservatives, such as Fox’s Charles Krauthammer. He says Trump has an “infantile hunger for approval.” Former NSA and CIA Director Michael Hayden says Trump is a “risk to America’s national security and well-being.”
One of my role models for many years has been George Will, another conservative. Mr. Will has left the Republican Party because of Trump. More than 90 Republican national security and defense experts signed a letter stating Mr. Trump is unfit to be commander in chief.
Psychobabble? If so, I am in the company of many respected Republicans who are doing a lot of psychobabbling.
To address some readers’ curiosity about which party I support. I am a registered Independent in the state of Idaho.
In hindsight, given the furor I have raised about Mr. Trump, perhaps I should have submitted the Hillary skewer to The Press before I submitted the Donald skewer. But then, I suspect the series about Hillary will raise the ire of the Democrats. It’s the same old story: Where one stands depends on where one sits.
I ask readers to bear in mind that I sit as an Independent, and I am writing the series on the two candidates as an independent thinker. I’ve no axe to grind with either candidate.
