SANDPOINT — Family of a Sagle man wanted for arrest for failing to participate in jury selection contend he is not ducking his civic duty.

Jason Shane Centorbi is declining to participate in the jury process because he is effectively disabled after breaking his back and puncturing several organs in a fall while working as a painter. Centorbi’s mother, Linda Watt, said her son has had difficulty managing his life since the 32-foot fall.

Moreover, Centorbi was undergoing treatment related to his injuries when he was selected as a potential candidate for jury duty, Watt said.

“He had a third surgery around that same time,” said Watt.

Centorbi did not respond to reminders and a court-ordered requirement that he fill out the two-page jury qualification form, according to court documents.

A $500 arrest warrant was issued after Centorbi failed to heed an order requiring him to report to 1st District Court to explain.

The warrant remains active, according to the Idaho Supreme Court Data Repository.

Watt said she was unaware her son’s predicament with jury duty but can’t intervene anyways because her son is an adult.

“We were unaware of the situation,” said Watt.
