MOSES LAKE — A Moses Lake man was arrested on Friday after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and leading police on a foot pursuit.

About 11:15 a.m. Tonya M. Routt, 37, of Moses Lake, and Wesley W. Reichmand, 31, of Moses Lake, were reportedly spotted on surveillance video stealing a flat screen TV from a motel room in the 2800 block of West Broadway Avenue, according to police records.

Routt and Reichmand reportedly loaded the TV into a U-Haul truck and drove away from the motel. A Moses Lake Police Department officer spotted the U-Haul and pulled the truck over. Reichmand reportedly fled the U-Haul on foot as the truck was pulled over and led officers on a foot pursuit through the downtown Moses Lake area.

Officers were able to catch up to Reichmand and he was taken into custody in the Columbia Basin Herald’s parking lot in the 800 block of West Third Avenue. Reichmand was found to have active felony warrants out for his arrest. He was booked into the Grant County Jail for the felony warrants, third-degree theft, resisting arrest and obstruction of a police officer.

Police are recommending that charges of third-degree theft and obstruction of a law enforcement officer be filed against Routt, according to police records. The U-Haul truck was impounded for a search warrant.
