Hazel L. Larsen, 87, of Spirit Lake, Idaho, passed away Sept. 4, 2016, at Hospice House of North Idaho in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She was born on Jan. 20, 1929, to Callie (Davis) and Monte Davenport in Plymouth, N.C. She was one of eight children, having three sisters and four brothers, all deceased. Hazel met Robert Larsen, a Navy man at the time, and married in Plymouth on Nov. 7, 1945. They were married for 65 years before his passing in April 2011.
Hazel and Robert moved to the Kellogg, Idaho, area in 1947 and raised five children, three girls and two boys. Hazel lived in Pinehurst, Idaho, for 32 years and Hayden, Idaho, for 21 years. She was a loving mother and homemaker who taught her kids a work ethic and manners. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst. She and Robert retired in 1980 and spent 21 seasons in Apache Junction, Ariz., as snowbirds. They traveled extensively in the Pacific Northwest and Arizona and took several cruises with daughter, Gail Barclay. She enjoyed her kids and grandkids the most.
Hazel is survived by daughter Joyce Stricklin (Jack) of Hayden; son Roy Larsen (Mo) of Covington, Wash.; son Alan Larsen (Nancy) of Coeur d’Alene; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (2011); daughter Gail Barclay (2009) and daughter Carol Larsen (1968).
