Donald Gene Darby, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016. He was born July 10, 1932, in Alburn, Wash., to Bruce and Eleanor Darby was raise with his sister, Jackie.
Don grew up in Southern California. He was a graduate of Alhambra High School. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy and is a Korean War Veteran. He served on the USS Doyle which was a mine sweep vessel. He married Nov. 20, 1953, and is survived by his loving bride of 62 years, Ann Darby. He and is wife, Ann, raised three boys in their loving home in Arcadia, Calif. Don worked 34 years as an electrician/cost engineer for Southern California Edison. Throughout the years he enjoyed a creative side helping his wife with arts and crafts and assisting his sons with numerous class projects. He enjoyed going on camping and fishing trips in the High Sierras with his family. He retired in the late ’80s to his dream home in Coeur d’Alene.
Don is survived by his wife, Ann; his sons, Bruce, Scott and KC; his grandchildren, Sean, Courtney, Nikisha, Mariah, Corissa and Stephen; great-grandchildren Brealyn, Kevlynn, Rori, Kailei, Zachary and William; sister Jackie; daughters-in-law Tasha and Adelle; nephews Mark, Josh, Jack and Jeff; nieces Pam and Dianna; brother-in-law Paul and his wife, Marilyn.
A service was held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at Yates Funeral Home, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.
