Whitefish boys soccer (2-3) split two non-conference road games over the weekend, defeating Laurel (3-3) but falling to Billings Central (5-1) a day later.
Whitefish topped Laurel 2-1 on Friday behind an early goal four minutes in from junior Noah Romangnuolo and a late goal in the 77th minute by freshman Casey Schneider. Freshman Sam Menicke assisted on both goals.
Laurel’s Tadden Lowell scored the Locomotives’ lone goal in the 71st minute.
Whitefish had nine shots on goal and Laurel had 12. Senior goalkeeper Marty Anderson had 10 saves for the Bulldogs.
Things didn’t go as well on Saturday, as east power Billings Central blanked the Bulldogs 7-0.
Christian Zygmond, Josh Bundy, Sean Comstock and Logan Tracy all scored for Central.
Anderson had nine saves on Billings’ 16 shots on goal. The Bulldogs only managed two shots on target.
Whitefish will take on Northwest A rival Columbia Falls in a conference match Thursday at 3 p.m. at Smith Fields.
