West side of Logan Pass still closed
Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 9 years, 6 months AGO
Glacier National Park’s partial closure of Going-to-the-Sun Road at Logan Pass stretched into a third day Tuesday, after warmer weather failed to melt away ice still clinging to the road.
The temporary road closure from the pass eastward to Jackson Glacier Overlook was lifted around noon on Tuesday, but the road remained closed on the west side between Logan Pass and Big Bend. Glacier spokesman Tim Rains said park officials would reassess the situation Wednesday.
Potable and running water has been shut off for the season at Logan Pass, although vault toilets are still available to visitors.
The Rising Sun Campground near St. Mary has closed for the season, and the Bowman Lake and Kintla Lake campgrounds no longer have potable water available after they were placed in primitive status for the winter.
